Warner: South Africa ´lazy´ in the field

Australia opener David Warner labelled South Africa as 'lazy' in the field after he survived several chances to post a century. Warner clubbed his sixth Test ton off 118 balls and shared a 206-run stand with debutant Alex Doolan to help Australia to a lead of 479 at stumps on day three. The explosive opener benefited from four reprieves from the Proteas with 12th man Dean Elgar, Alviro Petersen and Graeme Smith all dropping catches when Warner was on 26, 27 and 51 respectively. Vernon Philander also missed a run-out chance when Warner was on 106 before he was finally dismissed for 115. The 27-year-old blasted 13 boundaries and two sixes in his century that he likened to 'backyard cricket'. "You are going to be a bit tired in the field, and it looked pretty lazy out there the way that they were fielding," Warner said. South African AB de Villiers said he was embarrassed by his team's efforts in the field. "The fielding was certainly one of the factors which made me feel almost embarrassed," de Villiers said. "I'm very, very disappointed in the way we fielded and bowled at times, with no intensity." Australia will resume day four at 288-3 with captain Michael Clarke (17) and Shaun Marsh (44) at the crease. Warner knows the timing of the declaration could be crucial and still remembers the way the Proteas batted for over four sessions to salvage a draw at Adelaide Oval in 2012. "If you look back on Adelaide when we put 500 runs on the board, it was a tough battle there," he said. "It'll be a tough battle here. It is quite flat if the cracks don't do anything."
