Chiefs earn dramatic draw, Sharks bite too much for Waratahs

Reigning Super Rugby champions Chiefs staged a dramatic fightback to claim a 34-34 draw at Bulls in an enthralling game on Saturday. Chiefs ran in five tries to claim a bonus point in an excellent attacking performance, but appeared poised for defeat when Bulls fly-half Jacques-Louis Potgieter kicked his fifth penalty of the match to put the hosts 34-22 ahead with six minutes remaining. But the visitors displayed stunning spirit, lock Matt Symons and fly-half Aaron Cruden crossing for tries in the final four minutes, with Gareth Anscombe converting the latter to ensure three points for Chiefs and keep them atop the New Zealand Conference. Sharks cemented their place at the summit of the South Africa Conference by hammering Waratahs 32-10. The boot of Fred Zeilinga proved to be the key to a commanding performance from the Durban outfit, the fly-half kicking 19 points while Willem Alberts and Keegan Daniel scored tries in a comfortable win. Blues are a point behind Chiefs in the New Zealand group following a 30-12 success over Highlanders, George Moala, Ma'a Nonu and Charles Piutau all crossing the line in a comfortable triumph. Rebels stunned Brumbies with a magnificent second-half rally to seal a 32-24 win over the Australia Conference leaders. Brumbies had led 17-6 early in the second half, but Rebels – led by a 27-point haul from full-back Jason Woodward - stormed back to claim the points. Elsewhere, Alapati Leiua's 73rd minute try gave Hurricanes a dramatic 29-26 success at Crusaders, and Reds beat Stormers 22-17. Bookmark Our Page for Latest Sport News & Updates
