Pakistan have no margin for error - says Hafeez

Mohammad Hafeez warned there is no room for error when Pakistan lock horns with Bangladesh in the ICC World Twenty20 on Sunday. Pakistan responded to their seven-wicket Group 2 loss to rivals India with a 16-run triumph over Australia last weekend. India's spot in the semi-finals is already assured thanks to three wins from as many group matches, so Pakistan are vying for second spot. West Indies are in second spot and hold a superior run rate, so Pakistan will be targeting a big victory over host nation Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium to set up a showdown with the Windies in their final group game on Tuesday. Hafeez is well aware of what is required if they are to progress along with India, and warned Pakistan can ill-afford mistakes. "The picture is very much clear," he said. "As a team, we've to win every game to be through to the semi-finals. "We know there is no chance of making any mistakes, and we are ready for it. India have played very good cricket so far in the tournament. It's good that they are through and the rest of the teams know what it will take to advance. "In the last game (against Australia), great character was shown by everyone, and we hope to build on it." Hafeez said the seven-day break between matches has been particularly beneficial for Umar Akmal, who put in a man-of-the-match performance with a superb 94 against Australia. Akmal had battled through a hamstring injury in that contest, but has had ample time to be ready for Bangladesh. "The break was a blessing in disguise because he (Akmal) got rest," Hafeez continued. "The physios worked with him during that time, and he has been practising for two days now." For Bangladesh, the fixture appears to offer little more than an opportunity to salvage pride after heavy defeats to West Indies and India in their opening two Super 10 encounters. Bangladesh currently prop up the Group 2 standings, and a net run-rate of -2.204 means that even if results go in their favour they would need to secure two big victories to reach the last four.
