Williams in seventh heaven in Miami

Serena Williams continued her dominance of Li Na to win the Sony Open title for a seventh time in Miami on Saturday. The world number one has now won 11 of her 12 games against the Chinese, who is a place below her in the rankings, after winning 7-5 6-1. Li has not beaten Williams since 2008, with that only looking like changing early on in the match as Williams showed enough quality to lift the trophy yet again. After a tight first set, Li was left to curse missed opportunities, having led 5-2 following an impressive start to the match. Despite saving two break points, she was unable to make it three as Williams stopped the rot to make it 5-3 before Li crucially failed to take advantage of set point in the 10th. Williams made the most of her opponent's missed opportunities as she reeled off the final five games of the set to move ahead. In stark contrast, the second set was a relatively straightforward affair, as Williams won nine of her 10 first service points to wrap up the match in just over two hours. After Li held off a Williams fightback in the second game to level, the holder broke Li twice more before serving out for the championship in style.
