LeBron James fouled out as the Miami Heat suffered a second straight NBA loss on Friday, while the Los Angeles Clippers thrashed the Lakers. James (36 points, seven rebounds and five assists) fouled out late in the first overtime period in the Heat's 104-95 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Joe Johnson scored 22 first-quarter points as part of his 32-point haul, while Paul Pierce managed 23 as the Nets secured their fifth straight win. The Heat, who were without Dwyane Wade, remain top of the Southeast Division by seven games, while the Nets are second in the Atlantic. Blake Griffin produced a double-double to lead the Clippers to a 123-87 hammering of city rivals the Lakers. Griffin (33 points and 12 rebounds) was helped by Darren Collison (20 points) and JJ Redick (19) in the huge win. While the Clippers managed 43 points in the first quarter, the Lakers could only shoot eight in the third of the poor loss. Josh Smith (22 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists) starred in the Detroit Pistons' 114-104 triumph over the Philadelphia 76ers. The Houston Rockets were beaten 83-80 by the Atlanta Hawks, the Chicago Bulls secured their fourth straight win with an 81-72 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks and the Cleveland Cavaliers overcame the Utah Jazz 113-102. Dirk Nowitzki scored a team-high 24 points in the Dallas Mavericks' 107-90 thrashing of the New Orleans Pelicans. Nikola Pekovic's 26-point haul guided the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 119-92 win over the Charlotte Bobcats and the Memphis Grizzlies edged the Phoenix Suns 104-99. The Orlando Magic were handed their sixth straight loss in a 103-83 thrashing at the hands of the Sacramento Kings.
