Real Madrid maintain winning streak

Real Madrid survived a last-quarter scare from Galatasaray to preserve their 12-game Euroleague winning run with an 89-84 triumph on Friday. The Spanish giants racked up their 28th straight win in all competitions this season and moved to within five of CSKA Moscow's record of 17 Euroleague triumphs in a row. A buzzer-beating three-pointer from Sergio Rodriguez sent Real in 66-52 up at the end of the third quarter but seven triples from the Turkish side in the final period shook the hosts in the Spanish capital. Tremmell Darden's double double included crucial late points for Real, while Galatasaray's charge was led by Zoran Erceg's 24 points - although it ended in vain. CSKA maintained their 100 per cent start to Group F with a 77-62 win over traditional rivals Zalgiris Kaunas in the Russian capital. Vitaly Fridzon was key to the hosts' efforts with 15 points, while Nenad Krstic and Sonny Weems chipped in with 12 and 11 respectively. Panathinaikos were comfortable for the most part of their 72-64 win over Laboral Kutxa Vitoria, leading for the first half's entirety before a 17-4 streak in the fourth quarter put the result beyond doubt. Malaga moved to 1-1 in Group E with a pulsating 74-72 win at Anadolu Efes Istanbul. The contest included 22 lead changes but the Spanish side ultimately came out on top thanks to some last-minute heroics from Ryan Toolson.
