Ford wary of Younis, Misbah in Dubai

Sri Lanka coach Graham Ford believes the first session on day four of the second Test against Pakistan could be decisive. Younis Khan (62) and Misbah-ul-Haq (53) put on an unbroken 113-run partnership to help Pakistan back into the match on Friday. Pakistan still trail by 91 runs at 132-3 in Dubai but Ford is wary of what Younis and Misbah are capable of producing. Ford hopes the pitch suits his bowlers early in the day, identifying the opening session as the key one. "This pair has played very well. They are class players and they showed that in the last Test, what good players they are," Ford said of Misbah and Younis. "Unfortunately they've come in and played extremely tightly in this session. "Hopefully, there'll be a little more in the wicket after the overnight freshness, and hopefully we can get something happening and going our way. If we get two quick ones then it's a different game. "Tomorrow morning's first session is going to be a very big session for both teams." Ford said he was struggling to find the right balance in his team as Sri Lanka battled to find a genuine all-rounder in their ranks. The 53-year-old South African coach wants Sri Lanka to produce an all-rounder to ease the pressure on both the batsmen and bowlers. "It's certainly been a concern since I've been involved in Sri Lankan cricket, that we haven't quite had the all-rounder or two to give you that real balance to your side," Ford said. "We've had specialist bowlers and bowlers and that's pretty much what we've worked with. "That's for the system to look into and they're working hard back home to try and produce some all-rounders. "In the past they've had Sanath Jayasuriya, who could do a good job with the ball and was an outstanding batsman, and Chaminda Vaas, who could do a really good job with the bat but his main job was a strike bowler, and that helped with the balance of the side. "We don't really have that at the moment so the batsmen have got to go out there and make the runs and the bowlers obviously have to take the wickets."
