Sharper charged with rape, say LA police

Former NFL safety Darren Sharper has been arrested and charged with rape, Los Angeles police said on Saturday. Sharper, 38, has been 'suspended without pay until further notice, effective immediately' from duties for the NFL Network. The five-time Pro Bowl representative is being investigated in connection with two sexual assaults, according to the LAPD. The New Orleans Police Department say they are also investigating an alleged sexual complaint against Sharper. Sharper played for the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints in a career which spanned from 1997 to 2010.
